Alright, it finally got here and my first impressions was that the controller it self has a great feel to it.
It seems really durable, nice grip and a nice wrist strap which I doubt will slip off or break like the Wii.
I played Tiger Woods with it and you have to have a pretty good golf swing with good follow through for it to hit right, I would go as far to say that it's a simulator, which I like. It picks up amazingly and has great registration.
I then went on to play sports with it like Table tennis, and when I went to calibrate it, it didn't calibrate at all. I had to go the the PS menu and calibrate with system configuration, and that solved it. I guess it's not really a problem considering I didn't set it up that way to begin with, but a few other people have had this problem as well.
When playing a with this, you'll need a good bit of room, about 8ft away from the TV or camera. Not a problem for me, but could pose one for other people.
When I was playing table tennis, I got into it a lot, because it seemed that the slightest movement of your wrist would cause a spin on the ball making it seem a lot more realistic. It also registers speed which made me want to play it a lot more, because it was gratifying getting a nice slam.
Other then calibration problems which was easy to fix, I think that it's a great item. It's definitely better then the Wiimote, but I'm not sure how it stands up to the Kinect, as I haven't played it at all.
I would recommend this to whoever has a PS3.
great review, looks like a lot of fun
ReplyDeletei wonder how it compares to the kinect

ReplyDeleteSick stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. Do you have plans to try out the Kinect? It would be interesting to know how they compare.
ReplyDeleteI don't think i'll be reviewing the Kinect anytime soon. I'll probably do it in a few months or maybe sooner if a friend has it.
ReplyDeleteI have the Kinect and it like the PS Move needs a lot of space, but the whole-body detection is sick. Thanks for the post!
